KOHLERSTRAUMANN profounds in a friendship between Aaron Kohler and Marc Straumann whose relationship extends back to the very beginning of their careers 20 years ago.
Marc and Aaron building a perfect balanced Team of Architects thanks to their young, dynamic and focused personalities. 
They believe every architectural act has their own purpose. Aaron and Marc are working with a sensitive approach according to context, potential for materials and constructions as a matter of experience and atmosphere of the surrounded environment and needs of the people who are connected with it.

AARON KOHLER

An artist and architect form an unquenchable unity that showcases elemental features. Aaron Kohler possesses 12 years of professional experience over a range of building typologies, including custom homes, villas, commercial, retail, educational facilities, museums mixed-use and urban planning. His international stature and creative skills add a sensory quality to their architectural visions.
Aaron began his career as an architectural draftsman in 2003. Later he spent several years in Asia's creative industry and completed his Arts in Architecture studies at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW. He practised and gained experience as an architect and project manager working throughout Switzerland, Germany and France.

With several years of experience in the field of design, he delves a unique sensibility for details and compositions creating its own space and feelings in each project. Additionally, his cultural affinity to professional photography elevates the team with a unique perspective for capturing simplicity, demonstrated through their works' presentation. His creative philosophy involves capturing spaces and volumes through visual and emotional factors. He believes in the essence of scale in visualizing a space; every element of the whole integrates its value with mass, volume, surface, proportion, junction, geometry, repetition, light and ritual.

MARC STRAUMANN

Passion and enthusiasm go a long way in discovering and developing a skill. Marc Straumann took his first step into his dreams of building design during his earliest school years. His clear mind and focus on architecture knitted the constant urge to set course on realizing his ambition.
He graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Northwestern Switzerland in Muttenz. Marc believes in updating with the booming construction world. After graduation, he trained in Master of Advanced Studies in Business Engineering Management to add to his expertise.

Marc has widened his experience doing a comprehensive set of projects during his 15-year career.
His incorporation involves residential and school buildings to large industrial buildings and entire communities' master plan. Marc delves into extensive understanding of building codes, regulations and technical knowledge in the process of creating sustainable architecture. His expertise in execution transforms the team's innovative visions to sculpt into reality. In addition, his skills from business studies grant the ability to optimize profitability for each project early on. By blending feasibility study with a unique design process, he considers the efficient use of resources.

Marc defines his skilful techniques as an amalgamation of ingenious ideas and framework that reveals its magic when finished. 


TEAM

ESTHER ALCALDE | design architect

Esther is an architect with an aptitude for bringing together design, landscape and functionality, adapting them to different standards and contexts.

After studying architecture in the Polythecnic University of Madrid and in the Catholic University of Louvain, she completed her project management skills with an MBA. Her professional aspirations took her to work in Switzerland for the last 3 years in projects involving hotels, villas, offices and urban planning. Next to her professional work, she does believe that traveling represents a great font of inspiration by approaching different places, cultures and realities.

FABRICE FREI | construction draftsman

Fabrice is a draftsman with the skills and understanding for the design and realization of projects. He trained as a draftsman EFZ specializing in architecture at PV Architektur & Baudienstleistungen AG in Itingen. He supports the team with his trained eye for construction and detail.


ÜMRA KARAHAN | construction manager

Ümra is a qualified technician specializing in architecture and construction planning. After her apprenticeship as a draftswoman, she worked on construction drawings participating in large projects such as residential development and industrial buildings. She studied part-time at the HF while working at englerarchitekten gmbh, being able to put the acquired knowledge into practice.

Ümra supports our team with her knowledge in planning and supervision of the construction phase. She manages a series of operations on-site, ensuring everyone involved is working together and progress is completed on time. In her work, she strives to balance the aesthetics of each project and the desired high quality of construction with a pragmatic understanding of costs and execution.

KILIAN ZBINDEN | junior project manager

Kilian is a construction draftsman, with a wide understanding of technical knowledge in architecture, construction, and details. He supports the team with his technical background skills in construction. By applying his technical understanding to design, he provides great transformation of the design projects. 

MARCO TORNESE | construction draftsman

Marco is a draftsman and supports the team with his ability to develop and visualize complex designs. He is flexible and has strong organizational skills to contribute to the successful completion of construction projects.

MARINA BERETTA | human resources

Marina's skills in interpersonal relations are very valuable in our HR (Human Resources) role.
She effectively communicating with employees, handle sensitive situations with tact and empathy, and build strong relationships with employees and management

DANIELA LARBALESTIER | architect

Daniela's architectural design approach and understanding is very much influenced by her aim to develop buildings and interiors with a strong identity and authenticity that bring together the relationship between their context and people.

She completed her studies in London and Oxford, UK where she obtained her Masters and Bachelors degree in architecture with RIBA and ARB part II exemption. Her studies and work experience primarily in residential buildings at varying scales has provided her with a broad set of advanced skills in building design and digital representation.

JINDRA PAVLISTA | architect

Jindra is an intern who joined the team after his exchange study at Hochschule Luzern to deepen his skills in the work field. From his studies at Czech Technical University he gained civil engineering and architecture knowledge as starting base for his future growth in architecture practice.

LAURA JÄGGI | construction draftswomen

Laura is an experienced draftswoman who has worked at several architecture firms in the region. She's skilled at planning and designing buildings of all shapes and sizes. Now, she's part of the team at KOHLERSTRAUMANN, bringing her knowledge to the table.

Laura pays close attention to detail, which she also applies to her side project: tattooing. Working in both architecture and tattooing gives her inspiration to find something special in every project she takes on.

AICHA KRAKAJ | accountant

Aicha's skills in numbers makes her an effective bookkeeper. She is responsible for recording financial transactions and ensuring that financial records are accurate and up-to-date.

FLORIAN SCHAEREN | construction manager

Florian is a qualified site manager with a lot of experience in execution and planning. After successfully completing his apprenticeship as a draftsman, he worked in an architect's office before switching to construction management. At a medium-sized construction management office, he was able to build up his construction management experience enormously and also completed the HF to become a dipl. technician. His projects included single-family houses, apartment buildings, administration buildings and public buildings.

He is a very attentive person, with great attention to detail, but also a very pragmatic approach. On the construction site and in the office, he is always very solution-oriented.

CINDY GYSIN | project architect

Cindy is a project architect who believes in the importance of feeling and experiencing architecture through creating intimate senses of place and atmospheres.

Not shortly after graduating from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, she moved to Switzerland where she has been working professionally for the last 6 years. Well versed in all varying phases of design and construction, she has a particular focus working on residential buildings of all scales, as well as hotels. Aside from architecture, she finds that immersing oneself in nature helps to ground a person, serving as a form of inspiration, which in return translates into architectural design

ANA WEN DE OLIVEIRA | architect

Ana believes that architecture is inherent to everyone, and that is why it is essential that a project serves not only the client, but society as a whole. By also thinking from macro to micro, architecture achieves its purpose.

After her graduation in Sao Paulo, Brazil and in Portugal, she has contributed to more than 100 projects, such as housing, renovations, schools and hospitals.

IRINA ZELLER | construction draftswomen

Irina is a highly skilled architectural draftswomen with a keen eye for both the big picture and intricate details. She has garnered valuable experience working in a local timber construction company, where she honed her expertise. Irina brings her extensive knowledge of wood and structural engineering, coupled with her exceptional drawing abilities, to provide invaluable support to the team.

DAVIDE TAGLIENTE | construction manager

Davide completed his apprenticeship as a draftsman at Schnetzer Puskas Ingenieure AG. After working in the same company for 5 years he giant experiences in organized workflow and constructive thinking. He supports the team with his construction management skills and eye for details.

GIOIA MARUGG | marketing

Gioia is an intern who is currently in her last year of her bachelor studies in communication and marketing in Zurich. From her studies she gained a lot of knowledge and passion for digital marketing and event planning which she uses to support the company and the team.

ALESSIA CAPPONI | property management

Alessia has been working in the real estate industry for over 10 years. She has extensive knowledge in property management and marketing. With her expertise and years of experience in the real estate industry, she can provide competent advice to her clients and fulfill their wishes and requirements.

 In the development phase of new construction projects, she supports the team and is responsible for the successful sale of the properties. With her strong organizational skills and dedicated work ethic, she is the primary contact person for customers and professionally accompanies them throughout the entire purchasing process.
